Every year, two million Americans are victims of workplace violence. The Department of Labor has identified behaviors that are considered workplace violence. This training course explains what workplace violence is, and how to prevent it. Viewers also learn how to identify warning signs and handle confrontations.
Workplace violence includes bullying, sexual harassment, discrimination, intimidation, vandalizing, bringing unauthorized weapons into the workplace, and threatening to harm another, among other behaviors. Managers have a responsibility to watch for violent behaviors and to encourage employees to report them.
Viewers learn the first step towards prevention is to have a zero-tolerance policy. Managers should provide employee training in conflict resolution and stress management. Other preventive measures include treating all employees fairly and watching for signs of stress or domestic violence.
