Overview

Workplace harassment affects 16 million U.S. workers each year. Pervasive harassment based on race, religion, national origin, or sexual in nature can create a hostile work environment. This Video On Demand takes a look at what harassment is, behaviors considered forms of harassment, and how employees should respond to harassment.

Viewers learn how to respond to verbal abuse, including mocking, bullying, intimidation and hurtful or offensive remarks; veiled, conditional or direct threats; physical contact and violence; sexual harassment; and stalking. It explains tactics to defuse a potentially violent conflict and cautions against confronting a stalker or returning the stalker's gifts. The importance of clearly stating that harassing behavior is unwelcome, offensive and should be stopped is stressed. Viewers are encouraged to report harassment to their supervisor, human resource department or facility security. When to engage the police is also covered. Documenting harassing behavior is encouraged.

Everyone has the right to a safe workplace environment free of harassment. This video explains harassing behaviors, equips workers to respond to harassment and protect themselves from a hostile work environment. View this video training and become more aware of potentially offensive behaviors, learn how to directly address harassment to prevent its continuation or escalation, and learn how to prevent harassment from escalating to a physical confrontation.
