Overview

Most businesses and commercial operations create waste such as cardboard, plastic, scrap, and old oil. Some are considered hazardous to people and the environment. Effects on the environment can be managed if employees follow some basic procedures when disposing of these universal wastes.

This course discusses the four types of universal waste as defined by the EPA: burnt out light bulbs (including fluorescent light bulbs or CFLs), dead batteries, pesticides, and used mercury containing devices (thermostats, barometers, etc.). Employees learn the methods and practices for handling universal waste, while developing an understanding of the effects universal waste can have on the environment and on our health. Use this online course to instruct your employees on the importance of safe waste handling, disposal, and recycling.
